Staff Development and Giving Back

Working for a housing and redevelopment authority can be a difficult job at the best of times, even in Columbia County. Between piles of paperwork and multitudes of meetings, we need to pause, evaluate, and reconnect. Taking time for self-care and personal growth made our team stronger.
To find ourselves, we traveled down Catawissa Creek and visited the Pump House, a woodland retreat renowned for its weddings and excellent service. The environment was everything we needed for a reset, letting us slow down and truly enjoy the time we spent together. Through yoga, pottery and walking the scenic forest trails, we improved on not only ourselves, but each other.
As part of our retreat, we were asked to make a donation to the Bloomsburg Food Cupboard. While we knew our monetary contribution would be appreciated, our executive director decided we needed to go above and beyond. Each staff member constructed a birthday party kit: a gift bag packed with everything from cake mix to candles. With kits like these, we’re able to help those in need with making sure birthdays feel special.
